A Closer Looking at the Newly Redesigned 2024 GMC Acadia

Bigger Is Better

The 2024 GMC Acadia is entering its third generation of life and remains an industry-standard SUV that can fit the whole family — and then some. The 2024 model is bigger and better than ever, only six inches shorter in length than this year’s GMC Yukon while remaining classified as a midsize SUV. It still boasts three rows of seating, but inside, you’ll find a longer cabin that reaches higher and is even wider than previous versions!

In total, the 2024 GMC Acadia has grown 10.6 inches over its entire body; the SUV now measures 204 inches from front to back and matches the Yukon’s 120.9-inch wheelbase. This change grows the Acadia’s wheelbase by 8.6 total inches. As you can imagine, these larger specifications come with increased cargo space, too. And when we say increased, we mean a whopping 80% more cargo room behind the third row of seats! That’s a lot of room to stash your outdoor equipment, go on a shopping spree, or get your kids moved into their college dorm!
What about drivability and power?

Did we mention that bigger was better? Well, GMC didn’t ration horsepower or torque this year either; they went full steam ahead on making sure the Acadia drives with power. In the past, the GMC Acadia offered two engine options: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque and a 3.6-liter V6 churning out 310 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. These are impressive metrics in and of themselves. However, the new Acadia has even more!

The SUV now features a more robust turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers an incredible 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque. That’s saying something, considering how much bigger the Acadia is this year. You definitely won’t see the Acadia’s having trouble getting up to speed on the expressway.

GMC has made some changes to the transmission this year. Now, the 2024 Acadia has an eight-speed automatic transmission, a change compared to the previous nine-speed transmission. The option for both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive is still up for the driver to choose. No matter which you opt for, the Acadia still has a towing capacity of up to 5000 lbs. That’s a truly notable increase in towing capacity, between 1000 to 1700 lbs, compared to the 2023 GMC Acadia.

2024 GMC Acadia Trim Levels

The Elevation Trim

You aren’t going to go wrong with any of the trim levels on the new GMC Acadia. The base level trim, Elevation, starts the lineup of trim levels out very strongly. This trim level has a turbocharged 2.5L engine that delivers 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque. New Elevation trims come with a choice of seven or eight-passenger seating, so you can be sure it fits your whole crew without difficulty. GMC’s Smart Slide feature, available across the entire 2024 Acadia lineup, gives drivers and passengers the flexibility to adjust their seating arrangement however they’d like.

GMC doesn’t hold back on technology in any of its vehicles either. The Elevation trim comes with a 15-inch diagonal premium GMC infotainment system that is easy to use and beautiful to look at. The inside of the Elevation Premium trim certainly doesn’t disappoint either; you’ll find captain’s chairs that fold flat in the second row. Did someone say more cargo flexibility? The Elevation Premium Trim is the first trim level on the Acadia that comes equipped with GMC’s industry-leading smart-assist driving technology, Super Cruise. This can mean hands-free operation of the SUV in combination with Adaptive Cruise Control, which controls acceleration and braking based on a predetermined distance from the vehicle driving ahead on the road. The AT4 Trim

The AT4 trim is built for drivers who love the outdoors and plan to do some off-roading.
