The Yukon and Yukon XL share the same V8 engines, which are mated to impressive transmissions to optimize how your engine performs. The base powertrain available on the SLE and SLT trims features a heavy-duty six-speed automatic transmission, while the Denali powertrain delivers enhanced performance via a ten-speed automatic transmission.
The 2021 Canyon Elevation Standard and Elevation trims are equipped with a hard-working four-cylinder gas engine that pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission to produce 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. You can haul a pair of Jet Skis, a small camper, or an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) with its 3,500-pound maximum towing capacity. When it comes to fuel economy, this engine helps deliver up to 19 city and 25 highway MPG.
Standard on the AT4 and Denali trims is a naturally aspirated V6 engine that pairs with a highly efficient eight-speed automatic transmission to produce 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. When you’re on the road, you can expect a fuel economy of up to 18 city and 25 highway MPG. Maximum towing capacity is 7,000 pounds.
Arriving later in 2021, the 2.8L Duramax® TurboDiesel puts out an impressive 369 pound-feet of torque for enhanced hauling and towing ability. With this engine, you’ll be able to tow up to 7,700 pounds with your 2021 Canyon truck. The turbodiesel generates 181 horsepower and will be available on the Elevation, AT4, and Denali trims.

The Elevation Standard and Elevation trims come equipped with the 2.5L I4 gas engine, while the 3.6L V6 engine comes standard on the AT4 and Denali trims. All trims except the base Elevation Standard trim will offer the 2.8L turbo diesel when it becomes available later in 2021.
